Sump pump installation is something you want done right. There are two types of sump pumps which are submersible and pedestal.
Submersible pumps are submerged inside the sump pit. They are designed to withstand water damage. One major advantage is that they operate noiselessly because the water surrounding them muffles the motor noise. These types of motors tend to be more powerful, making them the best choice for locations where flooding may occur.
Pedestal pumps sit above the sump pit. They have a hose that drops into the sump pit to syphon the water out.
You may want to look into sump pump installation if any of the following apply:
- Sump pump is due for a replacement if it is at the end of its service life
- It creates excessive vibration
- The motor will not shut off and is in non-stop operation
- Rust is visible on the motor housing
- Your pump runs longer than it should
- Irregular cycling
- The electronics are fried from frequent power outages
